Thanks for all the votes everyone, and thanks to briantho for organising the competition!

I should have voted for my toughest competitors but I just had no contribution for last months competition.
IŽll play again this month:

Camera body: Canon 5D MKII
Lens: Zeiss Distagon T*1,4/35 ZE
Aperture: 2,2
Filters: -
Short note on PP: Adjusted WB, highlights and shadows, som colour defringe in LR, step resize/ sharpen in PS

Top vote (3p): HelenaN- Great line of trees, beautiful texture in the snow and well handled highlight and shadows shooting into the sun.
Runner up vote (2p): Phillip Reeve - it seems I have a soft spot for snow...
Last vote (1p): briantho - simple and elegant double V composition.

I'm back after a month off. Had I participated, twoeye would have had another vote. This month I'm submitting an owl. I don't know what kind of owl - I'll call it a sleepy owl because its eyes were like that for as long as I was watching.

Camera body: NEX-5N
Lens: Vivitar Series 1 200mm f/3.0
Aperture: f/4 ish
Filters: -
Short note on PP: Auto contrast, darken background, mild sharpen, and slight crop

Top vote (3p): jpeter - Simply because I looked at it the longest and wish I had taken it... except for the snow being so cold.
Runner up vote (2p): philber
Last vote (1p): Bobu

Taylor Sherman: It's a very simple shot, but I like it very much. I would have prefered seeing the rule of thirds used for this shot as the foreground bottom doesn't seem to add anything.

Camera body: NEX-5N
Lens: Tokina 90 AT-X 'bokina'
Aperture: f/2.5
Short note on PP: Warmed it up a bit, added contrast, slight color bump, -26 vignette in LR, standard sharpening on export.

1) Philber - amazing lines
2) Sebboh - amazing look and 3D
3) Snowboarder - feels like I was there.
4) helena/bobu

Twoeye, congrats. I haven't shot much of interest lately, otherwise I would have participated and you would also have had my vote. Love the mood in your harbor image.

Looks like the competition this month is already stiff... I don't think I have an entry once again.

Don't be put off Jacob - winning isn't everything. I keep coming back, and for sure i've no chance of beating most folk here

Picking up junior from school. Big advantage of a compact is that it can always be with you and you can catch unplanned moments:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: Fujifilm X10
Lens: Integrated Fujinon
Aperture: f/2.8
Filters: none
Short note on PP: Black clipping, boosted shadows, pulled back highlights, midtone contrast curve and B&W conversion in LR4.
Top vote (3p) + reason: Bobu - The light. A beautiful scene, superbly composed, captured and PP'd, but ultimately the light puts it a step above.
Runner up vote (2p): Briantho

Hmm, again I only have quirky stuff that only a mother could love. Oh well, here goes:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: Nikon D800
Lens: Zeiss Makro-Planar 100mm f/2 ZF.2
Aperture: f/4
Short note on PP: A little Contrast/Shadows/Clarity/Vibrance in LR4, to make it pop a little, and then Silver Efex Pro 2 for B&W conversion and framing.
1) Sebboh - I am a sucker for trees, and this one is a stunner, beautifully captured. I could only have wished for a bit more surrounding.
2) philber - I may have voted this one first if it had been just a touch sharper. Beautiful shot, interesting composition.
3) briantho - Really nice capture. Decisive moment, even

Carsten!!! I can imagine your being my long-lost son. But that involves my getting a sex change! Help!!!!
Besides loving this shot, I wonder whether the bottom-most tranche does not attract too much attention, away from the tree.
Later I will show a shot that is really one that only a mother could love. Hardly went out in March, and weather was awful, but I want to participate.

I cannot help you with that, sorry

Which piece are you referring to with "tranche"? The photo is of a tree on the other side of a lake, and the central-bottom area is ice over the water. The black beam on the left-bottom is the edge of the water, supported by a beam. Is that what you mean? Or maybe the frame itself?

I was referring to the white snowy strip at the bottom, which, to my taste, pulls to much attention away from the tree. At least, minimizing it by cancelling altogether at the left bottom corner works for me. Live and learn, son.

Top vote (3p) + reason: Bubu - Warm tones on such a cold place
Runner up vote (2p): HelenaN

Didn't shoot much last month. This is from an indoor session, testing my various macro lenses.

Camera body: NEX-7
Lens: Contax 645 Apo-Makro-Planar 120mm f4
Aperture: f4
Filters: None
Short note on PP: Slight crop to perfectly center the main flower in the picture, and various color tweaks using Color Efex.
Top vote (3p) + reason: Bobu - It's not my favourite shot from your trip, but it's a fantastic landscape easily worthy of my top vote.
Runner up vote (2p): philber

Ah, I see. Hmm. Well, it was really there I have done only global operations so far, and I am not sure I want to get into local stuff, which somehow detracts from the (remaining) authenticity... I could crop it, but then there would be too little space at the bottom, I think.

I will play with it and see if I can improve it. Anyway, this version will stay here.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: a900
Lens: Minolta 58/1.2
Aperture: f2
Filters: None
Short note on PP: Four shots stitched, camera neutral profile, converted via SFX, frame added, downsized using Fred's WPP (which does a much better job than my lame attempts to follow the downsizing routines posted in this forum).
Top vote (3p) + reason: philber - simplicity, elegance, and color
Runner up vote (2p): sebboh- I'd love to see this in B&W
Last vote (1p): jpeter- great capture. I'd try lightening the overall exposure and then playing a bit with the highlights and shadows.

Runner up vote (2p): Briantho. Great composition and well-executed.

Wandering the streets at night, the light here caught my eye. Took my time, viewed it from different angles, chose my composition carefully.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Camera body: Fujifilm X10
Lens:
Aperture: 2.8
Filters: -
Short note on PP: Embrace the noise!
Top vote (3p) + reason: carstenw; I first chose this as my #2, but I like it more the more I look. Nicely framed, tells a story, IMO.
Runner up vote (2p): HelenaN; dramatic, crisp, nicely executed.
Last vote (1p): serhan_; I just really like the sharpness and colors and it makes me want an SB.
(Honorable mention to ebookman for the seagull photo bomb shot. It cracks me up.)
