p.1 #1 · Cityscapes of Paris, France

These are versions (less people of some cityscapes in France), they are the versions of shots that I took less the people (which I took more of as travel photos). So basically, the shots in which I spent more time on, as I had to wait for a clearing each time I had to press the shutter.

you may see more of my recent landscape images and add me @ www.500px.com/christianlim

thanks so much for viewing.

Conqueror's Gate (Arc de Triomphe)

waited for the right time to take a monochrome shot, I did not even visit for a sunrise, sunset or a night shot even if my hotel was a mere 5 mins walk. all I kept on thinking about was a B&W image. also I had a 1.5 foot tripod with me here so I was forced to shoot low... paid off I think.

Ville Icone

my last stop was the eiffel tower... with a camera. though I was pretty much just living in trocadero the whole time. place was just full of people luckily there seem to be only a few or none at all at this spot at night.

(I do not claim copyright over the light show and this is a hobbyist shot).

Battleship Louvre

I like this other shot of mine better: http://500px.com/photo/28844777

but this one gives me a weird vibe than the classic image. a great place to be in at night.... when no one is around.

Love over the Siene, Pont de l'Archevêché s

took a travel shot from this spot with all the people walking by in black winter clothes.... this is a take on that shot, minus all the people. had to wait for a long clearing, 30s worth of no shaking on the wooden planks.

thanks again for looking at my images. Cheers from Manila!

I love the entire series, but the long exspoure of Arc de Triomphe is absolutely stellar. Great work!

Great shots! One question: is the first image a composite of 2 exposures? From the movement of the clouds, it feels like the sky is a shutter speed of at least 3 or 4 seconds, while the vehicles seem to be closer to 1 second. Or I could be way off on my estimate -- fast clouds or slow cars ...

^ thanks yes I had to pick a shot of the cars on the bottom part for less than 1 sec as there was no traffic and they were moving quite fast it was hard to catch them over 2 secs.

I had to long expose the clouds for mono, it was taken in 30 secs. much less and they would not be smooth enough which was not the shot I had in mind.

in the 30 sec shot all of the cars below all looked like blurs it was hard to make out. it could work but I choose this path. a single exposure would have been better taken at night, but I was busy getting hammered.

I share you sentiment about B&W photos! I was really quite struck by image #1. Well composed, with great movement and action. I think the "unintentional" choice of shooting from below really worked, because it gave the Arc De Triomph grandeur, from the perspective of people looking up at a piece of architecture much larger in scale.

Really gorgeous and compelling images ctlim. I can't pick my favorite from the first three. Wonderful perspectives and leading lines, tones. Love the first shot completely. Love the Eiffel Tower shot with the leading lines, but wish there was more interest in the skies. The Louvre shot is really powerful also, with lines and shapes pulling me into the frame.

Thanks for sharing!
