p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Shot of a lifetime?

Got this double rainbow over San Francisco Bay Bridge at sunset last night. It was an unbelievable thrill even though everything went wrong! When I got there, it was pouring rain, dark and gloomy. The high winds kept getting rain on my damn lens, which I had to keep wiping off. This made for some horrible streaking in many images. I didn't have a heavy tripod either, so again the high winds didn't help camera shake. I had not cleaned my sensor in many months, so at f/22, every single dust bunny showed, hundreds and hundreds of them. I had no time to or materials to clean it so I just kept shooting. Then out of nowhere, the clouds parted for 3 to 4 minutes, sunlight shot through and right onto the bridge, hitting a sheet of rain that happened to be passing over at that moment. Totally lucky! So after cloning out about a thousand tiny little black dust dots and streaks, this was what I was able to salvage. I hope you like it!

Sorry for the re-dit to the smaller size everyone. Seems someone out there has already copied it, removed my name, and is posting it around my area. Bastard.

This is really nice Conrad. I have seen a couple of these though not with such a grand foreground. I only had a camera with me once and it was a full double bow and alas traffic would not allow for stopping to capture.

Great perseverance Conrad, excellent capture

Great opportunity! Very well processed, too. Too bad that the convergence is killing this image. Have you tried straightening it out in post?

Wow, definitely a once in a lifetime shot. Lovely color. I agree, I'd try to straighten, but it doesn't ruin the shot for me.

That sucks. You should post in the comments of every occasion "wow, I have a very similar shot!" and then link the shot on your site.

I love that the rainbow seems to come out of the bridge pillar

WATERMARK BIG...always.

Ridiculous shot. And next time shoot f/11. at 16mm you can get away with even less than that and get everything sharp.

I tired to straighten it, but I lose so much of the outer rainbow when I do Jeff. Sucks!!
