p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Theresa & Kenny // Allerton Castle Wedding // UK

I've second shot of a few US friends over the years, It's been an amazing experience. But this time it was me who had someone State side come over the pond to help me.

Awesome Jim (The Hizzle) Heine flew in from Philly to help me shoot the most amazing wedding at the stunning Allerton Castle. 6500 images to be exact!! Taken me a while to cull it down but this was a good one, so good it's being blogged in 2 parts.

Big thanks to Jim and another friend Paul for being amazing extra primary shooters on the day. The images below are a selection from all 3 of us.

** numbers go in EVENS for some reason, blame Andrew Ho

Gorgeous set, Jon! Incredible location, and you did such a great job putting it on display. I have a question about 52. The shot seems clearly set up, doesn't look like pure PJ, but the bridesmaids are talking to each other. With that shot, I'd normally have them gushing at the bride. Just curious why you (if you shot this one) set it up this way where it's like they're not paying attention to her?

Seriously EPIC bro. I cant even begin as to what I like most because the whole set is pretty damn awesome. Your use of light and shadows and moments are ...just... f#ckin... insane!

Thanks for making me feel small. Appreciate that. j/k. Great, great set Jon.

Thanks Ron - Thanks for the comments - Basically I try not to do much posing if any at all except for the formals. But on #52 I asked the bride and her bridesmaid to stand in a line, took a few frames, then stopped. After a few seconds they all started talking amongst themselves and the bridge looked awesome, so just asked for a few more frames and that was one of them. This frame and the B&W one after are like 5 secs apart.

The window light there was soooo good

That's a fun set, Jon -- really enjoyed it. Your color in this set seems different from your prior work -- did you decide to emphasize saturation here? Maybe I'm just imagining it.

Thanks Ian - It might be due to a couple of things.

1) I'm finding converting my RAWs -> DNGs with LR4.3 makes the images a little muddy, a little mustardy (if that makes sense?). So I've recently tweaked my presets.

2) The venue had so many rich vivid colours and tonal depth. It's just the way the images turned out with my standard presets.

3) Like all of us we tweak our look and style, it's something I'm experimenting with. I think at the start of a new season it's good to push things off on a slight tangent. I've been doing a lot of personal projects over the winter and it's good to implement into my wedding shooting.

Amazing work, the overhead ring shot is excellent!

Great shoe shot (30), and I like the way you did 52 as well

Great colour for all, especially the ceremony shots

I wish the whites weren't blown on 54, any option to recover detail?

Thanks Scott - #54 was blown, but her expression and look made it a blogger for me.
