I feel that my multiyear rut is ending and I've been itching to go out shooting lately. I love spring anyway, especially an early one, and this year we in PDX have been blessed with good weather for the cherry blossoms. They are found throughout the city but most people look for them at the waterfront. I've been trying for years now to time it right between work and going there, but usually the weather doesn't cooperate and a wind storm takes them out. We lucked out this year and on a whim I wandered downtown early Monday to hopefully get a nice sunrise. It came a little late and for only about 15 minutes, but it'll do.
Anyways, these are my takes for the day.
#1: Steel Bridge Blushing
The sun hid itself quickly but allowed a decent glow for me to push later in PS. I'd been hoping for this shot for years.
#2: Looking Through Rose Colored Blooms
I saw a similar version posted on FB as a Hipstamatic style shot, but I wanted to see what I could do with it, too. So it's not all mine
#3: Cherry Blossoms on the Waterfront
This was actually my preferred photo, although it was the hardest for me to process. I don't do well with HDR type stuff and prefer to hand blend things. So it took me awhile on this...
BTW, the blooms are still looking good if you're in the area. Shoot me an email and I'll meet ya there!
