Well, actually in those shots the 24-70 suffers from flare more than from lack of resolution (there are not so tiny details in the test pictures).
Flare reduces the 'contrast' dramatically.
The Zeiss 50 MP has 8 elements in 6 groups. AFS 24-70/2.8 has 15 elements in 11 groups. Therefore, the former has 12 air-glass interfaces, the latter has 22 air-glass interfaces. No surprise the zoom suffers from flare much more than the 50 MP, even if the Nikkor claims nanocoating.
