p.1 #1 · More of Jessica, my first model shoot.

This was the first time that I shot a model. She was a total natural. I told her what I was looking for, and she kept popping out look after look. I could get used to this.

Howdy,

I see your photo post has had 485 views and no comments from viewers.

I know that can be disappointing and often discourages people from posting/participating in a forum like this.

So, I will post a comment or two and maybe that will get others to contribute their views too.

As with anything where a subjective view (opinion) is shared, there can be many views of the same issue or subject.
____________

I am posting a comment in your post because NO ONE else took the time to thank you for adding photos for us to view. I believe in "The Golden Rule" (treat others as you would like to be treated). It is "good karma" too.
____________

It looks like you got good exposure and focus AND you had a good time doing it. That is good.

The use of light looks good (not too much, not too little, enough ambient).

+++++++++++

Good job!

Thanks for the comment. Im not too worried about getting comments back. If I wanted that, I would have gone to flickr lol.

These shots may be too edgy for some people. Ive kinda witnessed that during my short time here on the forums.

Thanks again.

not bad for a first run mate. here's a tip, work with your model on her expression. With emotion on her face, these
shots would have been way stronger. generally I don't comment on the model, but this one needs it

I don't think there's anything so "edgy" about these, to be honest!

Nice first attempt, to be sure. First shot looks a bit green in the processing. And I agree her facial expression leaves me a bit unmoved.

Thanks jprez and chi.

I was so focused on getting everything right, I didnt even recognize her face seem so dull. Now its plain as day.

On the first shot, its supposed to have that green hue, so no need to adjust your monitors lol. Thank again guys.

All of them were lit with a single 28" Apollo softbox. Only difference is on #2, I had a barebulb speedlight as a rim light on her as well.

I like the photography and post processing, but do not like the model poses. The poses seem very unnatural almost like she has an affliction of some sort or she is a contortionist. The model is good looking and I think more pose work will bring about some really really good stuff! The elements are there, just needs some better integration and refinement between the two of you and you will have it.
