p.1 #1 · Shortcourse Off Road Racing from Firebird Raceway

I went out the first weekend of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing series at Firebird Raceway in Chandler, AZ. Former Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Randy Johnson came out to shoot on Sunday and I had the opportunity to chat with him about photography & baseball between races. It was a pretty cool experience.

Here are 8 of my favorites from the weekend:

1. - 7D 300mm f/2.8 w/ 1.4 TC, 1/100 sec

2. - 7D 70-200 f/2.8 II

3. - 7D 300mm f/2.8 w/ 1.4 TC, 1/100 sec

4. - 7D 300mm f/2.8

5. - 7D 300mm f/2.8 w/ 1.4 TC, 1/100 sec

6. - 7D 300mm f/2.8

7. - 7D 300mm f/2.8

8. - 7D 300mm f/2.8

Great set here but I kept hoping to see one of Randy Johnson taking a shot.

Numbers 2,4 and 7 aren't really working for me. A bit of odd composition on #2(not much you can do for that with sports ). #4 is a bit dark and the drivers cab is in the shade, but it was a backlit shot so again nothing you can do. And #7 that hill is pretty distracting. But great job panning. I wish I could do it that good.

I was going for that back lit look in #4, I only shot it because the truck was smoking and the smoke was lit up.
