John Caldwell in Pittsburgh here. Although not new to Fred Miranda's site, I am new to the lighting forum.
For years a friend has loaned me 500w and 750w Rifa soft boxes identical to those shown in this kit sold by B&H.
While I am almost completely an available light photographer, I now have enough need for soft continuous light sources to buy a set. Aside from the $2100 cost, are there reasons you would not buy this 3-piece setup from B&H? Would you, for example, be doubtful of the stand quality? I note the grid accessories are about $220 each, which I think is kind of generous. This particular kit offers one each 500, 750 and 1000 watt halogen sources. Based on my use of these particular soft boxes in a dozen or so sessions, I've been very pleased by the quality of light. If your experience leads to recommend a different compliment of continuous light sources, fire away.
