I have mixed feelings about HDR in general, coming from a old-school film background, but I can see its allure - and if it is treated and retouched carefully, it can create some very appealing images. Here is a selection I put together without too much retouching...

You do not have to join, but that would be nice.

You can post directly from sites like flickr, and there may be a way to post from your site - without joining ~ Ron

Welcome to the forum Jamie. Glad to see some more African wildlife on the forum. I dabble a bit in black and white and for me sometimes it works and sometimes not. These are very nice and would love to see more.

Thanks, it is one of those images that you need to look into - I like doing pans behind brush or bushes, has a arty feel about it I think. Jamie

Very nice set of images Jamie,

I think the HDR + B&W effect has worked very well here and makes these very striking and also something a little different from the usual safari images.

I like the first three the best.

Thank you all for your comments - those images were processed with Photomatix, not in camera. It does an amazing job of creating HDR's from a single raw file. Most of those images would be nearly impossible to align if they were multiple frames blended together.

I have a photo trip in Botswana planned for the 28th October for 12 nights - only $3499.00 and staying in comfortable lodges. There are a couple of seats left for anyone interested!
