a few pics from a local High School girl's lacrosse game this past weekend
it was tough to get a clean shot shooting behind all the parents sitting on the sideline!

(all pics with Canon Rebel XSi /450D and 100-400)

Clean images. Little to no emotion or action. Try shooting portrait so you are not clipping the legs.

While I do agree, not peak action, the images are sharp and the exposure seems good (maybe a bit hot, at least on my screen). Just about ready to pull the trigger on a 100-400 of my own. Keep shooting!

thx for the comments (wish I had one of those elusive 100-400 f2.8 lens!)

I know there are some who say the 100-400 is too slow and they don't like the variable aperture, but I've used it for years for outdoor sports and I'm a huge fan of this lens. Covers a huge chunk of field with that zoom range and, as you can clearly see here, it's very sharp.

I agree with Ted that you should try using portrait more (or maybe you do and those just didn't make the show), but I have no problem with just upper body shots in lacrosse since you can still see the ball and it gets you in nice and tight.
