It's been a while since I taught in this area, but assuming that things haven't changed that much I would have to say that tectonic plates do drift, but they also shift, rotate and sometimes lurch.
Having said that, I love the angle that you've chosen, though some of the colours do seem a bit odd (e.g. the water in the lower left).
You are right as I may have wrongly worded my reply.
Plates do shift, however, in Iceland, due to the geological setting it is at, plates just drift apart. This is geeky geologic stuff and not very relevant to the picture though, it was just a kind suggestion..
