sure, i hit the preset i made labeled "kodachrome 64", added vignetting and a weak grad filter to see the clouds.

i will have to look up what exactly the preset i made before FF mirrorless was a thing does... pretty sure it's mostly an aggressive tone curve and some color tweaks.

edit: actually, it was the velvia 50 preset... i don't have my LR catalog here.

Sure
Adjusted black and White points
Painted in highlight reduction to clouds with masking brush, used luminance mask so as to prevent dark halo
Sent to PS
Two different black and white layers with different grey scale balances to maximize colour differences in different areas.
Flatten
Three or four different curves layers to maximise tonal separation in different areas
Send back to LR for split toning plus final overall tweak to black/White/contrast and export sharpening.

The biggest problem that I had editing this image was controlling the yellow-green grass in the foreground. In my software, it really wants to take on an iridescent color that tends to draw the eye away from the trees.

It's fun and fascinating to see how different people interpret the same image. Thanks for starting this up, Phillip.

+1 - this "black at tips"-issue is really annoying

There may be some improvement also; I clearly remember highlights slider doing this in Lightroom ~5 years ago. Now I have used mainly Adobe Camera RAW (I hate the Lightroom for the catalog stuff) from Creative Cloud for few years, which I understand has same "engine" as LightRoom and this issue did not become problematic often. But the tutorials all over internet telling to avoid sharp masks will cause these black tree tips no matter what software. Also some people willingly darken sky with gradient mask - oh why to cause

ACR 10.0 still does that, Capture One too. RawTherapee has some degree of control over it (but that SW, especially last build is whole another level of can of worms ). SilkyPix actually doesnt, but its not very friendly SW and also has sorta soft demosaicing, which is kinda sad cause that thing gives rather impressive results in color department plus has some interesting unique options.

Rest, dont know. Easiest solution is Photomatix and just making two fake exposures out of chosen RAW developing SW. Or some conditional blend in PS while doing same (probably easier as you can just make one exposure, duplicate, lower exposure and blend).

Here is another challenging image. Taking a second, three stops longer exposure would have made a lot of sense but I didn't

I have more "striking" variant, but also way noisier. Not sure how it was supposed to look, but I went with early morning (based on timestamp).

Considering how its exposed, there is a lot more stuff in RAW than I would expect.

Here is my attempt. As is usual for me I wasn't a big fan of the 3 X 2 ratio and I cropped to 16 X 9. This let me move the horizon away from the centre as well.

Interesting seeing the work flow and results. Haven't had a chance to play till now, so here are my two attempts at it. I also have a RAW I'd be interested in seeing how people handle, I can upload it Monday.

The previous image is quite challenging and here my interpretation. Of course in Australia we have a different feel for landscapes as the greens/oranges are quite different.

This looks fun, and more importantly for me I'm learning from watching. Here's my attempt. Everything adjusted just in LR with grad ND, brushing for where the linear grad ND could not get to, and just global tonal and saturation adjustments. Also went with warmer, somewhere between daylight and cloudy WB.

Very nice image, Phillip!

Here's my edit in Capture One Pro 10.

Global adjustments: Linear response from RAW. Increased exposure with 3 stops, aggressive highlights save and shadow boost (100/66). S-shaped RGB curve, and shadow increase in Luma curve. 23 global Clarity, –0.43 Vignette.

Local adjustments: Clarity increase and slight white-balance cooling with gradient mask over sky. Further clarity and curve adjustments on valley clouds. Slight Dodge/burn on foreground elements on lower left. Spot dust removal at the center top.

Another one for folks to play with. Brackets would have been nice, but wasn't happening between using the bridge for support and cars making the bridge bounce.
