was it a portrait of a Bride or what? How come they "reject" something

She didn't say WHY she rejected it. She looked ok in the portrait but others in the picture were quite distorted due to the fisheye effect. I'm guessing it was rejected because of the fisheye distortion of peoples' bodies. This was supposed to be a "fun" shot. It wasn't a formal portrait. I was hoping she would think the shot was "cool" due to the fisheye effect. Like, "look at this crazy picture of us". Makes me a bit more hesitant now to use the fisheye for "fun shots".

I see a lot of the Canon shooters mentioned the 16-35 but non of the Nikon guys mentioned the 14-24. Is this not a good choice for weddings?

By the way, I use the following:
24-70 (primary)
70-200VRII (primary)
50 1.8G
85 1.8G
105VR

I own the 14-24 as well as the 17-35 F2.8.

The 14-24 is too wide for candid dance floor /group shots.

The 17-35 is by far the much more usable lens for a wedding reception.

In 135 format:

24LII
50 1.2L
85LII
16-35LII
24-70 2.8L

Will be adding a 70-200 2.8L IS II, another 24-70 and eventually the 35LII

changing 70/200 for 135 and adding the 35 1.4 sigma.

Just picked up the new Sigma 35 and it's extraordinary. Much better than my Canon 35L that was quite unreliable. Sigma seems to really want to step it up. Well made, tack sharp with stunning contrast and color rendering. Very excited to add this to my arsenal this season and it was under $900 bucks on instant rebate at B&H. Just my .02 on that particular lens

More than a second shooter, I am a gearhead. My bag is a bit heavy.

24mm 1.4
35mm 1.4
sig50 1.4
sig85 1.4
sig150 2,8 macro
70-200 vrII
+2-3 bodies + 4 flashes + wireless triggers + spare batteries + etc

I used to carry a 14-24, but the only use it got was when I loaned it to a primary for a group shot.

I have others, backups etc but these are the ones I use. 35 & 85 are most frequently used. 135 used sparingly when I have a larger working distance forced upon me. 16-35 is mainly used just when I need that extra width. I'm very happy with the lenses I use, and don't feel the need to add or change anything.

I have exactly what he has! plus the 70-200.

I recently changed things up to go lighter.

D600
24-120 f4
28 1.8
50 1.8
70-200 2.8

I'll add a 135mm if they ever update it. Right now I have a 180 2.8 as a backup telephoto. I'm over carrying the heaviest stuff now that the light stuff is so good.

I did the same thing. Went with primes for many reasons but one being they are lighter. I just did my last switch and added a 17 tokina and 150 sigma. Might do a 300 4 and be completely prime.

I'm still mostly using zooms. I love the 24-120. Only use the primes if I were really in need of the fast aperture, which is becoming less of an issue with new cameras. What I didn't like about primes was needing multiple lenses, which just gives you a weight issue in another direction. I also don't like that primes keep getting heavier, save for Nikon's new 1.8 primes which I think are better than the 1.4s.

NPS sent me the 35 1.4G and it's a fantastic lens... but you know what, for size and backwards-compatibility I prefer my 35 2.0D. I also have the 85 1.8D. Really small lenses, rather nifty.

I'd love for Canon to make a set of high quality F1.8 short primes (24/28/35). I'd pick one of those up over the 1.4L lenses in a heartbeat.

Have you shot the 600 out on a job yet? How's the AF at the reception?
