p.1 #1 · New Orleans Street Portrait

Recently I was in New Orleans strolling around the French Quarter and I approached this gentleman and asked to take his portrait. He was a little bit surprised, but went along with it and this is the result.
C&C greatly appreciated!!! Canon 40D, 35L

A bit tight - zoomed in too much - but other than that, a fine shot.

+1

you title this as New Orleans street portrait but all we see is the face and no environment / surrounding that shows that this is New Orleans. Hope this helps

I agree on the crop being too tight here Paul, watch out for hat brims that shade the eyes and forehead. Character-wise this holds my interest, would also like to see it in black and white.

Thanks everyone for the comments! I really appreciate it. Jim, I see what you're saying and it is a valid point. My intent wasn't so much to be an environmental portrait, as it was to just be a portrait. So maybe the word "street" is misleading. I called that because it happened on a street

Douglas, with regard to hat brims, is there any advice that you may have to improve portraits that have them? I didn't want him to take his hat off, I feel like it added something to the shot.

Best,

Paul
