The first image does not do much for me, but the other two are really nice. On the third image, I like how the ray draws the eye to the breaking wave. It might be worth increasing the midtone contrast on that third image just a bit.

it doesnt look like you are that close to the "subject", does a flash really add that much in a scene such as this? especially at these longer focal lengths?

I already added all the mid-tone contrast I could to the third without it getting wacky. A friend suggested B&W:

The better beamer gets the flash out there, it's quite amazing. You can see the difference on the spray in this image:
I really like #3. The waves moving against the wind and opposite the rays of light shows nature being less than harmonious. After some thought I realized that I also like the high key presentation of the image. Thanks.
I like the black and white version of number 3, but I think I prefer the color of number 3. I understand what you mean about things getting wacky when you increase mid-tone contrast too much. Oh by the way, I like your last image (the fifth one) the best - very nice composition and colors, and very dynamic to me.
