Even at lower ISO?

I don't have any issues with noise (or lack thereof) or DR with the 5D Mark III, so no reason for me to spend 2x as much to downgrade to a less practical camera.

Why is a 1DX camera not practical

Size, weight, cost, different batteries, different GPS unit, lower resolution, no SD card slot, narrower bracketing range... there may be more, but I've only used a 1Dx once, and those are the things that immediately spring to mind.

No it can't be practical to use those stronger and much longer lasting batteries.

Which are three times the size and cost 5 times as much as the smaller LP-E6 batteries... and you still have to have at least one spare of each.

If you need one spare battery for the 5D3. Then you don't need any for the 1DX.

Only 2.6X as much ($170 vs. $60).

You seriously don't carry a spare battery?

And probably 2,6x times as much power also.

I see the LP-E4N has come down a bit - but the cheapest price around here is still $199 vs $59 for the PL-E6 so it's more like 3.37x

Most of the time I do. But one battery for the 1 series will last as long as two of the 5D3 batteries. So if I need one spare, then you will probably need at least 3 spare batteries.

Doesn't sound like a lot more... about 18% according to your numbers.

But the MINIMUM you would need to carry is one spare - same as me.

One spare is mandatory for any camera if the opportunity is important. The 5D III battery is lightweight, which is the main advantage there.

Canon EOS 1D X Feature Advantages Over the EOS 5D Mark III

Viewfinder provides more nose relief from LCD (less nose spots on LCD)

Yes. Nicer on vertical shots, too - the extended viewfinders steadies the camera against your eye socket. Seems a little thing but I'm really happy paying $20/30 for a little piece of plastic for any body that doesn't come with it.

Built-in Ethernet Port

Yes again. Especially in the absence of USB3.

The dual CF slots of the 1D-X are much more practical to me than the super-slow SD slot on the 5D III. Regardless of the card speed, the SD slot was too slow even for my landscapes. I'm hoping to actually use the two slots regularly in the 1D-X.

Isn't the ethernet port still very slow, or was it improved with a firmware update?

That's the numbers from the website digital Picture com (Canons official) but I belived everybody here new that Canon is very conservative and careful with that rating. Did you actually belived that I got 1120 pics every time I can without problem shoot 5000 pics in one day with a battery. Last weekend I went away to the north of Thailand. I shot over 3900 pics in four days with the same battery. And it had more power left when I came back also

Why would I need to carry as many batteries as you When one of my batteries last at least as long as both your batteries.
