I just discovered that the photos I export from LR includes my ratings and flags metadata. I never knew this is included. I wonder what my clients think when they see images that they love and I rated it with low Star counts! Arrghh!!! This is so bad. Is there a way to prevent exporting such metadata out?

Can't find any on the web.

and how does a client know what a 1 star or 5 star rating means?
for me i use it to mean different things.

How many clients are looking at the EXIF data. Has anyone ever questioned you about the rating?

It does happen. I remember reading a story a couple years ago about keywords that were exported in a client's copy of pictures that were less than flattering descriptions of the clients. They were factual, but not really what you'd want your clients to see.

In the "Export" box, select "Copyright Only" and that will eliminate everything but your copyright information.

Forgot, save your "Export" settings as a preset (under User) and then you can select it every time you export images for a customer. This prevents you from making a mistake, such as you just did.

I've always stripped all EXIF.

In the keywords in LR, I only use their full names, location, the word "wedding" or "engagement", the city and state, and the date. That's it.

As for images. I "P" the ones I like. The others, I don't flash. I 5 start the ones for my blog. Then of those, I 6-key (red box) the ones that are my Facebook teasers.

No matter what they would ever seen (not that I think my clients will ever do that), they'll only see picks, 5 stars and red boxes. Simple as that.
