Going back through some files from last fall and found a few from a forgotten hike down to Short Springs State Natural Area. This is a place I go to monthly, if not more due to it being a short drive away. So much beauty abounds in this small little pocket of wilderness. Here are two from that afternoon hike.

Machine Falls

Lower Busby Falls

These are gorgeous locations and you've done a great job of photographing them. I've visited quite a few water falls in Eastern and Southeastern Tennessee, but it's obvious I need to visit the Central part of the state. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos.

Thank you, Stan. The Cumberland Plateau and the Highland Rim area of middle TN offer countless opportunities for spectacular falls.

Beautiful location Jon!
I particularly like the mist and the slower water movement on the second one.
Thanks for sharing,
Fred

Nice ones Jon. Makes me long for spring again! Both are really nice, but I'm partial to the second given the mist and darker, more mysterious feeling it gives.

Thank you all, Harsha, Dave and Brad. Interesting to hear the different responses. I personally added #2 as an afterthought, just was not completely satisfied with the capture. I felt #1 was stronger. However, just proves that it is all subjective and that I don't know much!

I also prefer the first one - not just because I like the faster shutter speed's effect on how the water looks, but I do...

Jon,

there are great. we love to go to NC and do waterfalls around Highlands and the Smokies. Where are you located and is particular fall relatively accessabile because my wife has arthritis and an aritificial knee, so rough terrain can be a hinderance for us.

thanks in advance
Mark

Thanks AMaji and Mark.
Mark, to get to that first waterfall is a short hike of about 1/2 mile. It is a steep drop off going down to the falls, about 150' down but some stairs have been built in the tougher sections. In regards to where I am located, I am in Middle TN. Lots of waterfall opportunities all over this area within easy, short walking distance. The South Cumberland State Recreation Area abounds with them as well as the local State Parks such as Old Stone Fort, Burgess Falls, Rock Island to name just a few. If your ever any specific questions, feel free to PM me. I may even offer a little free guide service to certain places
