My top pick last month is Carstenw. The pic is very "painting-like", beautiful, and immediately reminds me of the period and context. Great work!

Congrats to Brian - i would have voted for that shot also if i'd had anything to submit last month.

Getting out a bit now, recovering from back surgery. The X10 is a good walkaround companion.

A stretch of road close by my house. Its got a nice curve to it, but somehow i struggle to find the right angle to properly do it justice. My latest attempt, and probably my best so far:

Short note on PP: All in LR - B&W conversion, clipped blacks, boosted shadows and recovered highlights. Light grad ND in software to darken the sky a touch. And a bump of clarity to bring up the texture.
Top vote (3p) + reason: Carstenw - Excellent, well balanced image, with a large aperture used to to enhance rather than define the composition.
Runner up vote (2p): twoeye - a typical Nordic scene, well captured.
Last vote (1p): Taylor Sherman - Catching the moment. Priceless.

I used burst mode on the NEX in hope of getting one good shot of the dove as it took off from its nest, which is that hole in the wall.

Short note on PP: Cropped to correct my imbalance and then converted in SFX, sharpened slightly in JPEG conversion
Top vote (3p) + reason: carstenw- I think the most impressive things about the image are the use of limited DoF to give it apparent depth and the feeling of a space in transition- not easy tricks to pull off in a single still frame. Overall, it's a beautifully rendered image of a space that shouldn't have been allowed to decay. I would like to see it larger.
Runner up vote (2p): tsdevine- This was a tough call for me, and carsten only won out because I love the subject matter in his photo. I'm not big on falling water shots, but I can appreciate a good one for what it is. Great mood, good timing with the fog, love the deep greens and reds on the black rocks. Even the decaying leaves look beautiful.
Last vote (1p): Gary Clennan- it's a good, interesting single frame, nicely shot and processed, but I feel like I'm getting half the story. I think it would've had greater impact if you had pano'd down to the bottom of the falls.
