I'll throw my vote in for the crop, it makes me want to jump into the scene a bit more...but regardless it is a beautiful capture!

TERRIFIC image. The crop version is nice, but the original rules.

An Arch! In Yosemite? Photoshop! just kidding :P

Good title and great eye to capture this. It's a very smooth and calm photo. I like the subtle colors throughout and that "arch" is the kicker . I like the crop better because it seems all the elements in the photograph all lead lines to the center which is the main attraction. The full frame shot is grander but looses that effect the crop has. Both are good shots but I'm leaning towards the crop.

Great photo!

Really gorgeous shot of one of my favorite places. Your processing is perfect, I like the wider second shot best. Well done!!!

Just beautiful. I prefer the second composition because the path of reflected light on the water extends clear through to the foreground, and there are great lines also on the left of it in both the foreground and the background that converge on the central lit area. So for me that second composition really hums.

Great lighting. The original works best for me---I like the rocks in the foreground.

Simply awesome images, Jim. I kind of prefer the second one since I like the wider view. But the snow in the foreground of your first image is killer as well.

Absolutely Beautiful Jim, Very well done! The colors and comp are awesome. That warm light coming off the rocks on the left and the fresh snow are fantastic! Probably one of the absolute best color photos of Yosemite I have seen! Great Photo!

Amazing photograph. I love the pano version.
If you don't mind my asking; body/lens/shutter speed/aperture?

Hey Sean, thanks so much for the comment. This was taken with a Nikon D800, the 16-35mm lens, at ISO 200, f13 and 8 secs.

Thanks,

Jim

Jim,
Sweet capture, that spot is my most favorite place in the world, love that you at least had some snow.

Ken

Thanks so much Ken. Yeah, I only went up there because of the snow storm. Though the storm only brought in an inch or two of new snow compared to the 9" or more that was forecast.

Ha ha... thanks Jason! Yeah, it was crazy there. As I was standing there before the sunrise and saw the arch of clouds there I could see them drifting slowly to the right and I am talking to the sun to get it to hurry up and rise so as to light up the cloud arch. As it was it only got a tint of color, the full blown sunrise color didn't happen until the clouds had gotten over to the Bridalveil side. But then that created another cool shot. So I have 2 more pretty interesting shots from that sunrise, the one I am working on now is a vertical of Bridalveil with the clouds now orange/red...

Beautiful shots Jim. I like both a lot. It's cool how the snow covered rocks frame the scene and give it a more intimate feel. The pano has a sweeping epic look to it.
