The other day I posted a scene of a lovely afternoon rainbow across Bridalveil Fall and noted the reasonably large "snow cone" at its base.
While not the equal of the Yosemite Falls cone, I decided to hike up the short, steep access to the base of Bridalveil to have a look.
I went prepared with all my waterproofing and a "rain coat" for the camera since I've taken my share of cold drenchings up there before.
Fortunately, the winds were blowing the water mostly toward the rock face and not back onto the visitors viewing area. Thus, for the first time in recent memory, the visitor's location was nearly all dry. That was a treat in the 38-degree weather!
Not being as foolhardy as some, I did not scramble up amongst the boulders for a better angle.
So, while the full size of the cone is not entirely apparent here it was impressive never-the-less.
