D3s Problem

p.1 #1 · D3s Problem

My D3s is acting as if it is in bracket mode, even though my lighting is consistent. One frame will be properly exposed, followed by two more that are over, each one "hotter" than the next, then it returns to normal. A fairly consistent problem. Very recent also.

Just wondering if I have something set wrong in a menu some where by accident.

Also, is there a way to completely reset the program that runs the camera.

Thanks,
CP

know the problem well. when you go inside the arena look up at the sodium vapor lights they use. they cycle up and down on a sine wave. older ones at 120hz newer at 240hz. note the pattern in the group roughly every second to third shot the amber on the ice. your camera bursts catch both the light level change and the color change too. the human eye and brain adjust for it.

you will note that sports arena photographers have ceiling strobes that they link to eliminate the inconsistencies

Yes. I shoot on strobe all of the time. Building is being a bunch of @$$3$ and won't let me install strobes, so this is what I have to deal with. So it isn't my camera or lens?

no it is not. I'd just dial back on your exposures a hair. lots of white out there to add to the fun of exp compensation.
