| p.1 #2 · Do you use a filter on your 24 to 70 Mk II? |
Need a thin filter? Nope.
Do I normally use a filter for protection? Nope, at least not most of the time. For protection from blowing sand, salt water spray and (sometimes) heavy rain, I use a B+W 82 007 Neutral MRC filter (clear, 82mm). For ND filter use, I have a few Wratten gel ND filters that are cut to fit between the clear filter and the front element. Of course, there are probably many 'normal' 82mm filters that are thicker than my B+W. It's external frame (exculding threads) is about 4.6mm thick.
For occasional polarizer use, I use a B+W 82 KSM C-Pol extra wide (82mm > 95mm) fiter. I bought the Extra Wide for my TS-E 24.3,5L II and Zeiss 18/3.5 ZE. The only time I need the extra width at 24mm is when I use shift on the TS-E 24/3.5L II.
