p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Backpack suggestions for D800+200/2+24-70+one prime

I am looking for a backpack that I can carry D800/grip mounted with 200/2 plus 24-70/2.8 and a fast prime (either 24 or 85) plus a few accessories like small flash, cards etc

Many suggested Think Tank Glass Taxi that has good support to the big lens. However, it seems that other than the body and the 200/2, it won't fit any more. Could any one share their bag experience with same gear set. I don't want a huge backpack but just the right size to carry a body plus these 3 lens for a day of walking around. Thanks.

The Lowepro Flipside 500 should hold all your stuff with a bit of room to spare, and it'll also carry a 3 series tripod comfortably. It's reasonably priced and fairly light.

I have those lenses and the Glass Taxi and you're right - it's only good for the 200/2 and camera. I once owned a TT Streetwalker Pro and it held all the gear you mentioned. I sold it and should'nt have.

Hi Zesto,

Could you share your user experience when using the Streetwalker Pro with the gear. How did you configure the dividers? Was it bulky or "relatively" compact? Why did you sell it? Thanks.

Hi Frederico,

I had the 200/2 with camera attached lying along one side of the bag, which took up one half. The bag comes with a long divider so you can do this. Then on the other side of the bag I had placed the short dividers running from the centre divider to the sides where I stored the 24-70, a Zeiss 35/2 and a SB900.

It was quite heavy with all this gear but not too bad. I sold the bag because I bought a large Pelican case. I use the TT Glass Taxi with monopod attached if I'm just using the 200/2.

I think the grip will knock out the glass taxi, otherwise it would be close. I use the streetwalker pro for 2 bodies (800/7000), 200-400, 70-200, 24-70 plus accessories, binoculars and a small lap top. There is room up top for a gripped body. I even take the collar holder from the glass taxi to secure the 200-400. There is plenty of rooom for the equipment you mention but another choice might be the glass limo. I don't have that one but the specs looks about right

The Glass Taxi handles a D8OO with grip and 200 f/2 no problem, it's quite deep. Because of the padded collar and velcro strap, it's a little more secure than the Streetwalker Pro for holding the camera and 200/f2 but certainly not as versatile.

Celbrett, that TT Glass Limo you suggested looks pretty good. Didn't even know they made that model.

Gura Gear's Bataflae 26L or 32L are worth a look.

Thanks. Never looked at this brand. How these two differ in use other than 32 is bigger?

I think size (and cost) is the only major difference.

Does Bataflae 26L wide enough to hold the 200/2 with hood attached if laying it down on one side of the backpack?

Should be, but you may want to confirm it first.

Lurking on this one. Let me know if I can provide any suggestions for Think Tank gear.

I don't see being able to organize the Glass Taxi with the addition of the 24 - 70 f/2.8 and a fast prime. However we may be able to find some extra dividers to make this work for you.

If you're still interested, just let me know what the total overall length of the camera body, from the LCD screen is to the end of the lens with the hood reversed.

Good luck in your search!
