I routinely post portraits of strangers who I meet on the street. Many of you have commented that the concept is interesting, but approaching strangers just seems too daunting. If this is you, please check out this guest blog post by Fritz Liedtke.
Nice guest post, Bob. I usually feel too pressed for time to engage folks as suggested but I can totally see how important it is to do that.
One minor suggestion to your lead-in for the post: you might want to consider combining the first two paragraphs and writing "The freckled face on the cover taken by Fritz Liedtke is a stunner." to make the transition from the magazine to Fritz' project a little more clear.
I always follow your posts and I think you do a great job with your camera but I think is amazing how you convince people to obtain their portraits taken for you. I consider myself a very shy person so this is really a challenge for me.
Two weeks ago I bought a portrait lens and I just walked the streets thinking how to approach a stranger and ask to pose for my camera, I did try first with this lady and her husband and I explained what are the motives of my request and I gave them my business card if they want me to send them by e-mail the picture:
Great post Bob, I am new here and fairly new at Portraits! I love your Blog and thank you for taking the time to do it. I also found the Flickr group 100 strangers and I think I will sign up, this really interest me.
Thanks again!
