Had a quick session with Monica this weekend.

Here is my favorite from the shoot, C&C appreciated

Shot outdoors, with a bare sb800 to the left of the model.

while I love me some cleavage as much as anyone, this one isn't working for me. The neck line on this dress is just too long, for me the breast need to be higher, maybe a push up bra or something like that.

I think the light (OK, lack of light) in the eyes is a problem here.

Good balanced composition. Maybe the brighter lighting on her cleavage could be reduced to balance with the light on her face.

Pretty gal but honestly I cannot find anything redeeming about the shot. The pose is wrong, color balance is off, image is soft, exposure is off, framing is blah, to me this is a throw away, sorry.

Howdy,

Quick Comments:

You have already received some criticism about this photo.

So I have a suggestion....

As shown it is difficult to see what you want us to focus on in the image.

Face?

Jewelry (earring)?

Garment?

Hands?

Cleavage?

One Fingernail?

My Simple Suggestion: Crop the image to have the bottom edge of frame halfway down the original image. This eliminates the cleavage entirely, eliminates the hand (and single, eye-catching fingernail) and concentrates the viewer's attention on the earring instead. F

Put very simply: Focus our attention by composition.

Another suggestion: Post the edited photo (cropped as suggested) and ask the forum which composition they prefer when compared sided by side.

I hope these comments and suggestions help you.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Some background -This was my first portrait session attempt and comes after a 4 year hiatus from picking up my camera; but no excuses. Looking back at my settings, I have no idea why I was shooting at f2.5!

The jacket and earring were the main focus, and it looks like I missed that completely. Here is a quick crop and "normal" white balance (on my uncalibrated screen nonetheless).

Steady - now that you mention the fingernail, I can't stop looking at it! Thanks for the suggestions.

Also, not sure if its proper to start a new thread or not - but here is another favorite from the session. The goal was a simple portrait that one would give out to family, etc.
