I would like to try an X100 camera and trying to decide which of the models would be my best option.

The original x100 - cheapest way to try and see if I like it but at a risk that I would want to upgrade later if I do, plus I am nervous about buying a 4 year old camera.

X100S adds the resolution and handling fixes, but is more expensive.

X100T gives me everything I want at a price I can't afford.

So its between the original and s models and my questions are please:

Is the original X100 still worthwhile? How much should I look to spend used on one? My estimate is about $300? Does the Black limited edition original model sell for more or give me anything? Do you think I could pick up an S model for about 350-400 and if so, would that be better? Will I get the Fuji colors etc with the original model sensor or do I need the S model for that?

Thanks for your help

I'd go for the S if you can. The improvements in autofocus and image quality should be worth the minor increase in initial cost. I think you could definitely get an x100s for $400 and potentially less if you find a more used one or just a good deal.

source: I own and very much enjoy an x100s. I initially wanted the original but was glad I waited for the follow up model. Obviously T and the new F are even better, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the S model.

Has anyone on here been to Cambodia or a similar place, Asia? that used just something like the X100. Im going to Cambodia later this year and as much as I love my 5DIII and lenses I dont think Im up for carrying it around in the heat. I have my X100 and a little X10 as a backup (the X100 had a complete lens change and check up in 2013 and has not had heavy use since then so Im not expecting troubles with it). Im just wondering if these cameras are going to be enough, I know there are some nice landscapes but Im assuming it will be more about the temples and the people and street life than landscapes. I feel as if I use the DSLR and primes as a crutch at times and would like to be brave and go light, just not sure if I will be missing much by leaving the 5DIII home. PS I cant afford to upgrade my Fujis, If i could Id get an Fuji interchangeable lens camera

Its either that or I relent and take 5DIII and the lightest set up I can

Some cool ice crystals yesterday! Wish I had the time to wander around with a tripod and macro lens looking for a better photo. Glad I bring my X100S with me to work.

I just scored this mint Black FUJI X100 on everyone's favorite auction site for a really ridiculously low price:

Came with:

Hood filter
Filter ring
Fotasy Tgrip
Neck Strap

I bought a TGrip case and a ACMAXX hard LCD screen for it. I'm still learning how to use it but I'm really enjoying the JPEG photos the camera produces. That was one of the reasons why I got it, I'm tired of messing with RAW files and also carrying a D7100 with me on vacations.

The first photo was taken with my trusty Ricoh GR with a wide angle lens (making it a 21mm lens). I think I'm going to enjoy taking these two small cameras with me on vacations, the 21mm and 35mm are a great combo.
