If you posted a wtb ad for a 200 1.8 and were offered one from a well respected photographer here on FM and Nikoncafe who described the lens as being "mint" and were provided these pictures to show it's condition would you be thrilled?
What would you do if you received said lens and it looked like this? Tons of paint chips, scrapes all over, screws missing, the knob on the hood is loose and the hood won't tighten completely. And these pics actually make it look better than it actually does. Would you be upset and want to return it?
Do you think it would be unreasonable to want to send it back and have your money fully refunded plus the cost of return shipping?
Would you be upset if you called the seller who then asked "what paint chips" when you let him know you were disappointed and thought he'd misrepresented the condition of the lens? And then to have him say he took those pictures of it when he first got the lens, like it's no big deal? And then have him abruptly say he was sick and had to puke and that he'd call you back and hang up on you only to never call you back over the next 2 days? Only to ignore 2 emails and 3 PMs here and on Nikoncafe and 2 additional phone calls from you while he simultaneously logged onto Nikoncafe and posting several times throughout the day?
I've talked to him through email the last couple of days and I've gotten nowhere. He only respnded after i filed a dispute with paypal. He keeps asking me what my F'ing problem is and telling me I'm complaining about $hit and I should be glad he sold me the greatest lens Canon has ever made and I should just go shoot with it.
Needless to say I am less than thrilled with the outcome of this transaction and I have disputed the transaction through paypal and will be contacting AMEX if it doesn't get resolved. What's the most disappointing part is that this is a well respected guy who for some reason has decided it's ok to tell me the lens was "mint", send me pics of a "mint" lens and then send me one that's obviously been banged around over the past year. I showed the pics of the lens to the guy he had bought it from and that seller was appalled at its condition and didn't believe it was the same lens.
I don't think it's unreasonable to want what I was promised, especially with all of the talk recently about people selling them because of a lack of the ability to get them serviced by Canon. I wanted a mint 200 and I got one that's far from mint.
What do you guys and gals think?

......a fraudulent seller. He really needs to be booted off FM too.
