p.1 #1 · Using Nikon Coolscan 8000 on a no firewire laptop?

Friend wants to use my Nikon 8000 Coolscan on his Apple laptop which lacks firewire.

Reviews of converters suggest that many do not actually work. If you have made this trip successfully, how did you do it?

if it's a vaguely modern Apple laptop it has eitehr Firewire or Thunderbolt. If Thunderbolt, then Apple offers a converter widget.
