Thought this may be the best place to post this. I am planning on doing a basic CLA on an older rangefinder lens ('70's era) and would like to know the essential tools needed. My plan is to clean the elements and lube the helicoid. Looks like I may need a spanner wrench, suction pen, micro screwdrivers, and some sort of cleaning supplies (sensor swabs?). Anything else which would be a benefit? Where is the best place to purchase? Any information would be most appreciated.

WERA & Wiha drivers are good.(I think Japanese manufactures typically used JIS type screws)
[JIS is a specification for screw driver head design] but have used normal precision drivers without much problem, don't spend crazy money on them till you get your feet wet.

I've used a set like this for a while, I wrapped tape around the shaft for more leverage, and once in a while I had to modify a driver to fit a grub screw.

For cleaning:
-Glass: PecPads and Eclipse and/or Ror, latex finger tip covers.
-For the metal bits: Varsol/lighter fluid, tooth brush, soap and water.

That should keep you busy.

Thank you for the information. That's the exact screw driver you need to clean 5D2's viewfinder. I couldn't find any JIS type screw driver, but forced to use those phillips type. Finally, I got two worn out screws!
