I spend a lot of time out alone in the cold dark night shooting Aurora. The temps can get down into the -35°F range.
Consequently, the standard Nikon MC-30 cable release gets very brittle as it was not designed with these temps in mind. I have broken the outer plastic cable covering on a few and made temp repairs using cold weather electrical tape.
I don't know if the newer MC-30A has a lower temp rating but I am interested if anyone knows of a third party MC-30 style remote that uses a low temp silicone cable?
