That lens looks very good. Did you correct for vignetting?

No, in Apple Aperture just used highlights slider to get tones back to sky, otherwise no adjustments done. Seems Zeiss finally made large enough lens barrel, unlike the Makro-Planar T* 2/100, which vignetting outside close-up distance is ridiculous.

EDIT: checking in Aperture and when highlights adjustment was set to 0 (=doing nothing/default value) there seems to be more vignetting since the highlights slider seems to be doing some local adjustments to highlights and naturally due to vignetting the corners got less affected.

Uzay, you need to post the image on another site, and then link to it here.

Hmm. According to the lens sheets, the 2/135 has only slightly less illumination falloff at f/2 than the 2/100. All other ZF/ZE lenses have more falloff than the 2/100, at their respective maximum apertures.

Carsten, yes, that's what i'm doing, i'm using photobucket to upload but even though i or the site don't do resizing, still image is small when i upload here

maybe i misunderstand the term HD,, we are talking about uploading pics here in large size right?

Yes. I don't know what photo bucket does, but when you post a link here, you don't upload, you type in the link, ie. http etc.

Nice Carsten, do you still have the Sinar?

Samuli, lovely separation in your shots

Toothwalker, do you know what distance they measure these for the lens sheets?

Asking since 2/100 wide open has almost no vignetting on makro, but horrible vignetting when lens focused to far distances. Maybe they measured 2/100 at makro distance (since it's makro lens) and 2/135 at infinity, then I would believe that Zeiss light falloff curves would be close with these two lenses.

I'll try next week to convert this image with dcraw so I know 100% sure what is happening (apple may have added some annoying lens profiles or other crap to apple aperture on some update).

No, I ended up selling it. It had some sort of trouble communicating with my Contax 645, and would randomly under-expose and sometimes lock up (the latter is fairly normal for medium format digital systems like this; I also had it happen with a box stock H4D-40, and have heard of it happening with other combinations too). I am not sure if it was my camera, the adapter, or the back itself. I think that for the Contax, the best back is the Phase One, probably the P45+ or something like that, but that is a step up in price. The Sinar works better on a Rolleiflex.

I loved the results though. I would love to try again sometime, but to be honest, at the time it was a relief to go back to my Leica M8 and then Nikon D3.

The light falloff is measured at infinity, unless mentioned otherwise. In the case of the 2/100, the graph has three curves: F/2 at infinity, F/4 at infinity, and F/2 at 1:2. As far as vignetting is concerned, the 2/100 and 2/135 should be pretty close at infinity focus.

All lenses have less illumination falloff at close focus than at infinity.

Vignetting is also not something that is subject to sample variation --- unless the sample is run over by a truck. On the other hand, improper attachments may aggravate the falloff.

I passed by this great piece of engineering. Build by Heerema one of the biggest companys in the offshore industry. The light was not great and the angle difficult because there were gates and I couldn't get nearer.
But at this size you can see the detailing of the construction very well.
( Talking about big cranes, Tony Sherman, this one is huge! :-))
There is another picture of this construction showing the width in the Sigma DP2m have you tried it? thread.
