p.1 #1 · Montana State Football- A unique perspective

Howdy Folks! So I have a unique perspective on photographing the local college football team.. mainly because I play for the local football team. So the normal sideline shots are of course out of the question. But football pictures are my main sellers, although nobody knows they're buying from a player- the NCAA shut down my first website because we athletes aren't allowed to represent a business with our names.

Anyway, started out fairly normal with some shots of the stadiums at sunset during a bad fire season

Well then came a new challenge, I wanted to get some game- stadium shots. So I set up a time lapse before the game and had my camera take a shot every 10s from up on the film platform. So obviously the shots aren't my best as I had to compose when the stadium was empty and hope for the best as the sun set and the lights came on.

The timelapse generated wasn't the greatest, but the fans did enjoy it, you can view that here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=br3n4a9QKrE

Anyway.. hope you enjoyed the story, none of these I view as my best work.. but it's my best selling and my market that I cater to. You can view the rest of the gallery if you want on my site (hope you guys don't mind me posting a link): http://www.peakphotographymt.com/galleries/montana-state-football

Happy shooting

Andy

Do be careful. You do risk your eligibility, especially if the NCAA has shut you down once already.

Otherwise, I dig these 4 photos.

Very nice. Watched the TL-Looks OK. The only comment I had was "Why Sail?". Everyone uses that

Yes for sure, ever since I was shut down the first time I have worked with our local compliance officer on a solution that will work. Basically I can't use my name or likeness to promote my business, which is why I created Peak Photography of Montana. Also why when someone visits my website they will only see my first name and the only picture I have of me is of the back of my head (same as my avatar picture).

I'm entering my last season, and after that I can finally resume using my real name. It's been an interesting experience learning to market my photography without being able to use my name. I've had to turn down magazine covers simply because they wanted to use my name and wouldn't allow using my business name (understandable).

Thanks for the kudos!

To be honest, the TL was a complete after thought. The sole purpose of doing the time lapse was to pull out my favorite 5 frames, ones where there was some sort of crowd action or the sky doing something interesting. And it was in the middle of the season, between school and football I really don't have the time necessary to do up the time lapse properly. Plus even though Sail is overused... still a great song .

Cheers!

Andy
