From a Faberge exhibit today at the Houston museum of Science...not quite macro, so oddball options left to me on what forum to post on.

This is the first time I'm using the new 24-70 f2.8 Mark II lense I just picked up.

Second shot....I'm waiting for an update or a new Canon 50mm fast prime...at least f/1.4... something sharp wide open with decent build quality and excellent IQ...

I have the older 50 f1.4 and love it...it was my travel lens. Problem was it wasn't a zoom. Spent a month researching the Tamron 24-70 f2.8 vs. Canon 24-70 f4 vs Canon 24-70 f2.8 vs older Canon 24-105 f4. After oodles of Youtube vids, and blogs, I decided to go with the most $$$$ option Canon 24-70 F2.8 - I may never use the 50mm again

I thought long and hard about the f4 vs f2.8 and after reading that indoors the 2.8 is awesome, that's what tipped my to the larger f stop since the 5D Mark III doesn't have flash.
