I saw this most unusual log and it reminded me of a squid

Bizarre. And my kind of find. Glad you found it and shared it.
Nice processing with crisp detail and palpable texture. And probably a bit less slimy than an actual squid, which is good.

I can see it Ray, good vision. I like it when nature portrays itself in different mediums. Is this within a flooded lake, or just high water period?

Love it!
Magnificent seeing, Ray- and an excellent presentation.
Have you considered this as a two-parter? This image followed by a close crop of the squid stump?

Nice find. looks really detailed. My minds keeps wanting to crop out some of the water but I like the balance it has now.

Thanks Scott, I am not sure about being slimy, it looked like a favourite perch for the birds

Thanks Douglas, it was on the man made Menindee Lake system, a system of lakes on the Darling River in far west NSW.

Thank you Charlie, most kind. I did try a crop but it just looked too busy.

Awesome!
I guess, I'm viewing dead gum trees in an inundated area such as the River Murray or Darling valley? Where did you take this shot?
Cheers mate!

Hi Volker,

It is indeed a man made wetland on the Darling River at Menindee,
