It was hazy, but even so, the Three Sisters Mountains about 80 miles to the East, were visible. They only show themselves a few brief times a year and some residents don't even know that they are there.There was an eruption and heavy lava flow from one, about 550 years ago. I was standing on Skinner's Butte, a little igneous hill, in the center of town.
