Prevelige Offline • • Upload & Sell: On p.1 #1 · AHL Hockey The AHL All Star game came to Providence RI this week, and I took my first shot (pun intended) at photographing it. I realized at the time I had slow glass (100-400) and no press access so I'd be shooting from my seats. I didn't realize that the game is much more like an exhibition than real hockey. There was no checking, few slapshots, and way too much cutesy finesse. Nonetheless, it was fun to try and to learn. SInce there was relatively little action or story to tell, I'm interested in your opinion of the shots technically. GIven it was my first try, I wasn't displeased. C&C very much appreciated. amlsml Offline • • • Upload & Sell: On p.1 #4 · AHL Hockey Were you shooting on Aperture priority? Maybe set camera to manual, I try not to shoot anything less than 640 shutter for hockey. Iso 2000 seems a little low, I ma usually in the 6400 range, and that is at 2.8 so at 5.6?? from what some of the guys here are using their 5D mark 3 I think they are happy up to 8000? Maybe so a search, tons of great hockey here Feb 04, 2013 at 04:31 AM

Prevelige Offline • • Upload & Sell: On p.1 #5 · AHL Hockey I was shooting manual, and the action wasn't so fast that I felt I had motion blur. In normal games, I'd expect 1/640. In fact, I started there, at ISO 6400 or so. It seemed to get enough light at lower ISO, so I turned it down and let the shutter slow too. I figured it was a bit less time in PP. If I were selling the shots, I'd have been a bit more cautious. Did you think the shots looked bad, or just that the EXIF was unusual? Feb 04, 2013 at 11:01 PM
