cater007 Online • Upload & Sell: Off p.1 #1 · Basketball focus Took some basketball shots last night and thought I'd done pretty good. Showed them to a pro and he suggested my focus points were off and I need to switch to Nikon's equivalent of Canon's AL Servo-Focus. Looks like that is AF-C on a Nikon D90 but I'm not sure. I'm shooting with D90, 85/1.8, AF-C, Auto ISO and WB, matrix metering, wide focus area, f/2, 800, continuous high speed release. Aqualung Online • • • Upload & Sell: On p.1 #9 · Basketball focus yes AF-C is what you want. And I would try narrow or single point focus to eliminate any possible jumping around. FWIW the 851.8 is not the fastest focusing lens in the lineup...do you have a 501.4 or 501.8? You say you're on a tight budget, but any 2.8 glass? Like a 24-70 or 70-200? You're nice and low which is good, and the white balance is good as well. You'll want to crop in a bit tighter to show here, i.e. remove the dead space in front (bottom) and our right. I've stayed away from my 50/1.8 due to my distance fear. Tried my 70-200/2.8 but felt the 1.8 gave me better colors. Do I need to revisit and just practice more? Thoughts appreciated.
