Conrad, I am very sorry to hear about your injury. Not that you are looking for advice, but if it were me I would probably go the surgery route in order to have a higher probability of getting back to 100% permanently, but good luck regardless..

Are you serious about wanting to see some raw files to play with? I was in the central valley at Camanche reservoir last Saturday looking for eagles and other birds. The weather was grey and very contrasty all day and we never got really close to the birds so I have been hesitant to post any here...but if you want to play around with one or two I would be interested in seeing what you can do with them. Just let me know.

I hope you heal quickly and completely.

Conrad, that is terrible news! I'm so sorry to hear about your fall. Thank heavens you were with a group of people.

The Owl is outstanding! I'd love to send you a file to process. My PP is still very challenged, or maybe it's the RAW file that is challenged.

Sorry to hear about your ankle, Conrad. Ask the doctor for some carbon fiber, loctite, and a new ballhead. Hope your bipod is fixed soon.

Great shot, sorry to hear about the broken ankle, ouch!

This is a good lesson in not going out into remote country alone, especially once you get out of cell range...if you'd been on your own the outcome could have been a lot worse.

Whoa, Conrad, sorry to hear about the ankle... yeah, in our haste to "get that perfect shot", we sometimes go a little overboard!

Seriously though, don't screw around with the ankle, get the surgery and get it done right the first time. You're still young and active, and a surgically repaired ankle won't affect you as much as you age.... Plus, having titanium pieces in your body makes you almost as high tech as your gear

Fantastic image Conrad, get well soon as we will all miss your great submissions. I know exactly how you are feeling as I am just getting over the same type of accident you had and broke my ankle as well. The hardest part is not getting out in the field with the camera.
