Well, not exactly nowhere. The road between Death Valley and Vegas. Not much traffic that day. C&C welcome.

Hey Phil,

A nice road shot here. This is a case where the powerlines actually help the shot rather then hinder it. They help in balancing out the offset road in this.

Thanks Jim. The bumpy road and power lines were irresistable.

For the area it looks like pretty heavy traffic to me.

I found it stifling.

I think I remember seeing a similar photo where the road is flat!

I may have some jpeg compression going on here.

Nice shot, Phil. Nice depth leading into the distant mountains.

I love traveling on these roads. It always provides a perspective how big this country really is. Thanks for posting. Michael

Cool looking shot, Phil. Agree with the others on the utility poles. Really like the bumpy look in the road, as well. With a bit of speed, bet you could get a car to go airborne.

Cheers,
Ed

Well it looks like the road melted in the heat and went all wonky.

Hi Helen,

It does have the look of those shots with heat rising from the pavement - but it was only about 40 degrees that morning.

Love the shot, Phil.
Looks like you may have used a long lens for the compression.
I tried a 400mm on a desert road similar to this, and the results were... not usual .

Thanks Charlie - you're right about the lens. Lot of compression going on which probably accounts for some of the bumpiness.

Love it! The comp is excellent, and the bumpy road makes a really cool road shot.
