p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · HS Hockey Doubleheader

The local AHL affiliate (Worcester Sharks) hosts area HS hockey teams to entice people to attend them, and stay for a Sharks game.

Our girls team went first, scoreless 1st period, and jumped out 2-0 in the 2nd. But the opponent tied it, and then opened it up in the third, to win 5-2.

All TTG...

Chris

The boys played after, went up against a very strong team who have already qualified for post-season, lost 8-4

8. Breakaway...but hit the pad instead of going for the corner

Chris,
Ive got the exact same set up,added the D3s to my D3 a couple of months ago just getting to grips with the bodies high iso strength, and shot mostly with the 300 mm 2.8 as my standard lens.

It's a great setup, isn't it? I'm not looking for a D4 any time soon, possibly a second D3s.

Sure is,for the first time,I generally know that any issues in my images are user error, before I was not too sure.

I use it with af-c ,dynamic 21 point and lock on set to normal, are you using similar !

Nope, I'm a single pt AF guy, primarily. AF-C, Release, and used AF Lock On tracking=4 or 5 this game for a change.

I ran with single point for a year or so with my D3,but just feel I get a little bit of extra help since going with dynamic
I also go with release ,but found that lock on above normal 3, just felt a little bit slow to react when action changed quickly !

Still thats the beauty of the D3s,it offers different options depending on your shooting style !

Yeah for me, Dynamic seems to grab the wrong focus point in sports like these, I've used it for events like gymnastics vaulting...

I normally don't use Lock On but the ref kept getting in my way so I thought I'd give it a try, maybe a lower setting as you say.

If you have't seen it yet, Google the "Nikon D3s Technical Guide", lots of good tips (there's a D3 version as well).

Thanks for that,I have read the guides, lots of good stuff.I think you would find a slower lock on beneficial.Ive tried most settings, and normal 3 seems to get the quickest response without jumping if your focus point moves or a player or ref gets in the way !
