Our Great Dane hunts in the fields daily and she can be powerful and agile through the snow and brush. She will catch around 50 rabbits each year and well..... eat them. Most of the time the rabbits will make it to sanctuary through the perimeter field fencing. A Hunter of rabbits and field mice; Yet, our Dane is gentle and sensitive with children and our cats. Yesterday, my 11 month old Golden Retriever played with two full grown Great Danes. I wish I'd had my camera. The Great Danes towered over my dog, but they were as nice as can be.
Jeff... When you mentioned: "the great danes towered over my dog", it reminded me of this shot from a year or two ago. Our Dane was out running/chasing and leaped over one of our other dogs. Danes are not thought of being athletic but ours is VERY active!
