Herb,
This is an amazing series... so many lifetime images in one shoot. I really like the 7th image... something about the interplay between the landscape and the diving bird.
I am just curious.. is wearing camouflage a really important part of getting shots like these? Owls are so ridiculously hard to spot, I've only managed to shoot one once (a barred owl) in my entire life.. most of the time I can hear them and have zero chance of figuring out which direction to even point my camera.
But then again I am not an avid bird watcher & don't have time to go do this every week.
I know I'm not going to come into a 500/4 but wearing the right clothes might be more attainable.
I've had a lot of success cloaking myself with camouflage or just earth tone colored clothing, light green, beige, brown. After knowing the raptors favorite haunts ( which may take several days to find out ) I just set up and wait.
