Here are the rest from Shay's Run, West Virginia in October.

This log in the outlet below the second falls had become hollowed out like a trough. Still not sure this quite works, but here it is for your comments.

The next three are all from virtually the same location just below the third falls, where the creek cascades steeply through a tunnel of overhanging trees. Joe Rossbach had a cover of Outdoor Photographer from this spot a couple years ago.

Wow Dave! These are really sweet looking.

I really like the canopy created by the trees and the bit of mist in #2 and 3. I can't choose between those two as they both give two different feels. #1 and 4 are also great. I would love to give you suggestions, but I sure think that you nailed these babies!

Dave, the work is beautiful and the pano is one of the best fall shots I have ever seen. It is so well composed it contains every element I would want in a fall shot pulled together perfectly, really excellent job ! Regards, Dean

Well thanks everyone. I really appreciate the comments. Shay's Run is a cool place to return to; it has been different every time I've been there. This is the fist time I timed it close to right for the optimum colors.

Incidentally, with the exception of #2, these are all technically panoramas. 1 and 4 are also stitches of at least 3 frames, with a wide angle focal length and camera in portrait orientation.

Great stuff here - really like #3, but all are fantastic. Can I ask what you are using to lengthen the exposure - an ND or polarizing filter?

Thanks Helen, Sunny, Manu and Corwin. Unless it is sunny I usually find that a polarizer is enough to get me into the 1/5 to 1/2 second range that I like for most moving water shots. But if I need more I am most likely to keep the PL on, but add a 2 to 3 stop ND and adjust ISO to bring the shutter back where I want it.

Hi,

Very nice images. Not sure if I would go so wide on the pano as you kind of loose the focal point of interest.

I do like the second image though and feel that a very strong image would have been the top half of the frame with just the trees.

I more often than not find that a lot of landscape photographers try to add to much into the image, when often 'less is more' if you know what I mean.

Personally I'd die to be in amongst that lot with such potential!

Again.. very nice images, well done.
