p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Canon guy have Nikon question

Hi Guys
Im a Canon guy and Im about to get a used old Nikon N80 FILM camera body.
Now Im confused about the lens, since Nikon has several model of the 50mm standard lens.
I wan to get the cheaper one, which I think it's the nikon 50mm 1.8D, right ? the one with aperture ring.
Im getting all this just for nostalgia purposes, shooting film occasionally.
Here's my question: so, in N80, it has "A" (aperture) setting, so when I adjust aperture, is it on the lens or on the camera ?
Thanks Guys.

Set the lens to f/16 or whatever the smallest aperture is and use the front control dial to set the aperture.

If you set the aperture ring to the smallest aperture (eg f/16), the you can control the aperture via the body (eg via the front control dial)

If you set the aperture ring anywhere else (eg f/1.8 or f/11), it will use whatever aperture you have set (ie you can't change it with the front control dial)

You would be better off buying an F3 body and manual focus lenses. Better built body by far.
