p.1 #1 · How often do you use your 24-105L

I don't really "need" the lens. I currently have the 35L, 501.4 sigma and the 85 1.4 sigma. Found a great deal locally for the 6d with or without the lens. Curious as to how much you use yours and your general feelings on the lens itself....

I probably use my 24-105 about 50% of the time.
I used to use it more before I had primes for landscape work.
For getting priceless intimate shots of children, the zoom is invaluable.

For landscape work over 35mm I still use it as it very sharp.
Its a nice range if you just want a simple kit for the day.

It's a very versatile lens. I keep mine on the body and only swap out when I need another lens for a particular reason. It's my most used lens and wouldn't think of getting rid of it.

I use it a lot. It's in my "day bag", with a 5DII and 100-400L IS. It's capable of taking wonderful images, and its IS is a bonus for reducing camera shake on handheld photos with slow shutter speeds.

I use mine a fair amount. I use it for outdoor events, landscapes, and general travel photography. When doing landscapes, I will typically have one or two other primes to go along with it, but don't always use them. It does have a fair amount of distortion on the wide end. It is a great all purpose lens. It is not a "prime killer", but I have made some good size prints from it (4 feet on the long end).

The 24-105mm is my most used lens. I also have a 24-70mm f2.8 but only use it for event photography where flash is not permitted. For most general use the 24-105mm has a very nice range.

I should add that I am referring to use on a FF camera. I don't like it on a crop camera because I like to have a true 24mm available to me.

It's my regular all-around lens whenever I need more flexibility and IS.

So, if not my fast primes, it'll be this one. (Currently, I don't own a 24-70/2.8L, but I plan to get a 24-70/2.8L II when the price drops.)

I have had my 24-105L for a very long time. It was my first L lens and has served me very well as my main travel lens.

Is this a trick question? If you don't like changing lens or are a travel shooter, you might as well glue the 24-105 to your camera. Sure a prime is will best it in terms of ultimate IQ and aperture speed, but the convenience of having 24, 35, 50, 85 and 105 lenses all in one barrel, plus pretty dad burn good IQ and 3-stop IS, is a winner.

Ya, that about sums it up. My 24-105 probably shoots 80% of my keepers. My 100-400 between 10-15%. My 100L 3 to 4% and my 17-40, 35 f2, 85 f1.8, and 70-200 f4 the remainder. The 24-105 is excellent across its range. you can find primes that are outstanding in various areas. The 24 TS II does better at 24 on a tripod with manual focus

The 24-105's downside: It can't do wider than 24 and it can't do longer than 105, its f4. Use Lightroom and enjoy excellent images. I just ordered a 5D3, my 24-105's 3rd body. If you have a FF camera, have this lens. Does this adequately convey my opinion?

I used it in January 2012 and before that in August 2010. Next time would logically be September 2014.
