Amazing camouflage of a dead leaf mantis nymph (Deroplatys sp.). I wouldn't have spotted it if it hadn't swayed itself a little too much in the wind.

Excellent shots. What a cool mantis.

Question about praying mantis'. Are they naturally aggressive toward one another? I was shooting one once and it launched itself at me and latched onto my lens. Scared the crap out of me. My guess was that it saw its reflection in the lens and thought it was a rival, but I don't know. Has this happened to anyone else?

I love mantis as they seem so close to human and I am not a insect crazy person. These shots are superb!
