Yeah, posing especially is my weakest skill. Almost all of what I do is incredibly simple and...well...boring. I would like to think that I am getting better, and I do know I have improved over 2012. But, I have not grown in that nearly as much as I should have. It is just one of those things that when I am shooting, my brain focuses on environment and empties more or less when it comes to posing. With a lot of our stuff, the weak posing is compensated for (in the eyes of the layperson) with the scope and quasi-grandeur aspects of many of the images. There are not many people around us that do shots like we do, so that alone sets us apart to a great extent. But, I desperately need to improve at this, because ultimately, I feel that posing is one of the (if not the) most important skills for a non pure documentary shooter.
As for the lighting, do you mean it's boring because it's a bit flat? I could definitely get a bit more definition in some of it. Part of what holds me back at time from getting to much definition is that I want it to look more natural, but maybe that is a silly thing to dwell on. Kind of like on the other aspect, though, very few around here do any legitimate OCF stuff, so even simple things stand out to people...at the moment. Thanks for the feedback!
