From last September in Kenya's Maasai Mara. My guide and I found this lioness with her two cubs shortly after sunrise. No other vehicles were in sight the entire time. My guide estimated the cubs to be about 2-3 weeks old. At that age, their eyes would have just recently opened and this could be their first trip out with momma. After about 30 minutes with them, we decided to leave lest we attract the attention of other vehicles.
Just awesome to be alone and see such magnificence in the wild!
All taken with the Canon 7D and a mix of the 300 f/2.8 and 70-200 f/4 L IS.
From what I know from all my Nature programs - these little cubs would be too young to have been introduced to the rest of the pride. The lionesses wait until they're older before they take them to the pride.
This is a wonderful set & I'm so happy you shared them.
Wonderful series of behavioural action shots.
Nice to see the natural setting, and the close of the cute cubs.
Brought back some nice memories of MM.
# 4, 7, 9, 11, and 12 are my picks.

My Maasai guide was giddy and practically beside himself (so was I) at what we found and were seeing. Just goes to show how much those guys love what they do. Makes me a bit envious too
